Running CPD and professional learning events
You run a learning event for professionals, and participants expect a usable record of attendance.

The short answer
A CPD or professional learning event is built around what participants should be able to do afterwards. The logistics follow the learning outcomes, and the attendance records and certificates need to be right on the day.
We manage the agreed scope, and coordinate specialists such as venue, audio-visual and registration providers. The professional body decides whether an event earns CPD points.
Who it is for
- Professional bodies and associations running seminars, masterclasses and learning days for members.
- Learning and development teams in companies that run professional-development programmes.
- Training providers who need event-day coordination around a programme they have designed.
- Committees that run learning events as volunteers alongside their own work.
The problems it solves
- A programme built around speaker availability instead of what participants need to learn.
- Attendance records that cannot be matched to names, sessions or times.
- Certificates issued without checking what the professional body actually allows.
- Participants with very different levels of prior knowledge in the same room.
- Practical sessions that run out of time because the room and materials were not planned for them.
Decisions to settle early
| Decision | Usually owned by | What we prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Learning outcomes for each session | Programme owner or education committee | A session outline template that links each session to its outcome |
| Format: seminar, workshop or masterclass | Programme owner | Options with the room, timing and facilitator consequences of each |
| Who may attend and any prerequisites | Education committee | A registration set-up that records the eligibility the organiser has set |
| Attendance evidence the professional body requires | Professional body or secretariat | A question list for the body, and a record plan once the answers are known |
| Certificate wording and who issues it | Secretariat | A certificate checklist with wording the owner approves |
| Feedback and follow-up learning | Programme owner | A feedback plan linked to the next learning programme |
What we manage and what stays with you

What is included and what is not
A typical scope covers the planning timeline, facilitator and supplier briefs, registration and check-in design, room planning for practical work, materials deadlines and on-site coordination.
- Not included: deciding or promising CPD points, approving learning outcomes, and any claim about accreditation. These stay with your professional body.
- Not included unless agreed in the scope: content creation, facilitator fees, and venue and supplier costs.
- Specialist work such as audio-visual and registration is subcontracted and coordinated by us within the agreed scope.
Questions to put to the professional body
- Does this event need to be submitted for approval, and by what date?
- What learning-outcome wording or session format does the body require?
- What attendance evidence is needed: sign-in, sign-out, session-level records or time stamps?
- How long must records be kept, and who holds them?
- What must a certificate say, and what must it not say?
- How are late arrivals, early departures and substitute attendees treated?
How an engagement works
- Share your programme idea, the audience and the professional body involved.
- Agree the scope, the level of support, authority limits and reporting in writing.
- We collect the body's requirements and build the timeline, registration and records plan around them.
- We brief facilitators and suppliers, and run the decision log up to the event.
- We coordinate the event day, then hand over the attendance records and open items.
What happens after you enquire
We read your brief and ask a few questions: the audience, the format, the body that approves the event and the date window. You then receive a written proposal with the scope, the factors behind the fee and what would change it. See fees and quotations. Nothing starts until you approve the scope.
Where we work
Planning and project management can be delivered remotely anywhere in Malaysia. On-site support and travel can be arranged anywhere in Malaysia when the scope needs it. We work most often in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Seremban.
Travel and accommodation are charged when they are part of the agreed scope. See areas and on-site arrangements.
If employers may claim the fees, see HRD Corp and claimable training events.

Worked example · Fictional example
A fictional seminar and its attendance record
Fictional organisation and figures, for illustration only.
A fictional institute of surveyors plans a half-day seminar and wants to offer CPD recognition. Before the venue is booked, the secretariat asks the institute's education committee what attendance evidence is needed.
The answer is a session-level record, so registration is set up with a check-in at the door and at the start of each session. Certificates are drafted without any points wording until the committee confirms the outcome.

CPD event checklist
Work through each line before opening registration. Questions for the professional body are marked as such.
- Event purpose and the audience, with any prerequisites stated.
- Learning outcomes written for each session, approved by the programme owner.
- Format chosen (seminar, workshop or masterclass) and the facilitator for each session.
- Question to the professional body: does the event need approval, and by when?
- Question to the professional body: what attendance evidence is required?
- Attendance record design: names, check-in points, session times and who holds the record.
- Question to the professional body: how are late arrivals and substitutes treated?
- Certificate wording approved, with no points or credit wording unless the body has confirmed it.
- Certificate issue route (printed or digital) and who sends them.
- Room layout and materials for any practical activity.
- Feedback form and how results feed the next learning programme.
- Record retention: how long, where, and who can access them.
Handle it in-house, or bring in help?
Your team can usually handle this when
- The body's requirements are clear and the team has run similar events.
- The audience is small and registration is simple.
- One person owns the programme and the records.
Outside planning help earns its fee when
- The requirements are unclear and nobody has time to chase the body.
- Attendance has to be recorded at session level for a large group.
- The learning event is one of several the team is running at once.
Want someone to coordinate the learning event?
A project lead can coordinate the timeline, attendance records and supplier handovers within a scope agreed in writing, while the programme stays with your education committee. Send us the checklist above and the questions still waiting for the professional body, and we will reply with the level of support that fits and what it would cover.
Questions organisers ask
Can you promise CPD points for our event?
Only the professional body can. We collect the body's requirements and build them into the plan, and the body decides the outcome.
Do you design the learning content?
Content stays with your programme owner and facilitators. We coordinate the timeline, briefs and materials deadlines around it.
Can you manage attendance records?
We can plan and coordinate registration and check-in to match what the body requires, and hand the records to you at the close. The records remain yours.
Is a seminar different from a masterclass?
Usually yes, in room layout, group size and facilitation. See the guide to choosing between a seminar, workshop and masterclass.
Can you support learning events outside KL, Selangor and Seremban?
Yes. Planning can be done remotely anywhere in Malaysia, and on-site support can be arranged when the scope needs it. See areas and on-site arrangements.
