Hi, I'd like to discuss support for an upcoming event. Help needed: Not decided Event type: Not decided Event area: Perak Date: Not decided Approx. attendees: Not decided Reference: EV-1111 / en Page: https://eventconsultant.com.my/areas/perak/
The short answer
Start with where your delegates come from and how they travel. Then compare Ipoh with any other Perak town using the same short list of questions.
The brief below gives you the questions and says who answers each one.
What to verify for Perak
- Which town, and which local authority covers the venue address? Ask the venue for its full address, then check the council's own portal. The Ipoh City Council (MBI) portal lists licensing (e-Lesen) and a complaints channel (MyAduan). For any other town, ask Tourism Perak or the state government which council applies.
- Can delegates come by rail? KTMB's ETS page lists Ipoh as a key station, on routes from KL Sentral to Ipoh and from Gemas through KL Sentral, Ipoh and Butterworth to Padang Besar. KTMB's Komuter page lists an Ipoh to Butterworth route and says the Northern Commuter Service reached Kuala Kangsar, Sungai Siput and Ipoh in 2023. Ask KTMB for timetables and station facilities on your dates.
- Can delegates come by road? Confirm road routes with the council and the venue for your date. Ask the venue for its own driving directions and parking, and ask each delegate group where they will start.
- Which venue? Perak Corp lists the Casuarina Convention Centre in Bandar Meru Raya, Ipoh, owned by Hotel Casuarina @ Meru. Ask any venue for current hall details, rooms, hours and loading in writing.
- Which other towns host business events? Tourism Perak Malaysia is the state tourism body, with an office in Greentown, Ipoh. Its home page does not mention business events. Ask Tourism Perak and Perak Corp whether Perak has a convention bureau and which other venues host professional events.
- Which state holidays fall on your dates? The 2026 national holiday schedule lists the birthday of the Sultan of Perak, but the state columns are not legible. Ask the state government for the list for your event year, then test your dates with the host-city date checker.
- Where do your delegates live? The 2026 school calendar puts Perak in Kumpulan B. Delegates from Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu are in Kumpulan A and may have different school holidays.

Rail is confirmed for Ipoh, not for other towns
KTMB's pages name Ipoh as a key ETS station. They do not name other Perak towns for ETS, and Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Siput appear only for Komuter. For any other town, treat rail as unconfirmed until KTMB confirms it.
For delegates arriving by rail and road from several cities, see Ipoh. For the national picture see planning across Malaysia.
Worked example · Fictional example
A fictional association compares Ipoh with another town
Fictional organisation and figures, for illustration only.
Persatuan Fiktif Juruaudit Awam plans a one-day seminar for about 150 delegates. Half will travel from Kuala Lumpur and the rest by road from other states.
The committee fills the table for Ipoh and one smaller town. It finds that rail is confirmed only for Ipoh, so it shortlists Ipoh and asks two venues for written directions and hall details.

Handle it in-house, or bring in help?
Your team can usually handle this when
- Most delegates are from Perak and know the town.
- The venue is chosen and its directions are clear in writing.
- A committee member can check holidays and make the calls.
Outside planning help earns its fee when
- Delegates arrive by rail and road from several cities and nobody owns the arrival plan.
- You are comparing Ipoh with another town and need one clear comparison.
- Your committee is outside Perak and cannot visit before the event.
Want someone to compare the towns with you?
We can run the town comparison, chase the answers and keep the arrival plan in one place, or manage the event itself with the specialists it needs, within the scope we agree. Planning can be done remotely, and we can arrange on-site support and travel to Perak when the scope needs it. Travel and accommodation are charged when part of the agreed scope. Send your dates, venue and what is still open, and we will reply with the level of support that fits and what it would cover.
Questions organisers ask
Is Ipoh the only option for a professional event in Perak?
Not necessarily. Ipoh is the town this brief covers in detail. Ask Tourism Perak and Perak Corp which other venues host professional events, then compare them with the worksheet.
Can delegates reach Ipoh by train?
KTMB lists Ipoh as a key ETS station and as a Komuter stop on its Northern Commuter Service. Ask KTMB for the timetable on your dates.
Is there a convention bureau in Perak?
None is listed on the official sites. Ask Tourism Perak whether one exists and what support it gives associations.
What is the journey time from Kuala Lumpur?
Ask KTMB for the timetable and the venue for road directions.
